This day in-particular took me by surprise and I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation just on how it all happened. It was a normal day like any other: waking up at 11am, watching movies, playing on the laptop, and texting people. The night before I was texting one of my favorite girls Jdog about how I get so bored and there is nothing to do. She suggested that I should walk around
and explore! I thought about it and was like why not? What’s the worst that can happen?
4:45pm: Walking on the train tracks behind the trailer park.
4:55pm: Walking on top of the still freight trains.
5:10pm: As I climbed down from one freight train to hop onto another I noticed that a police officer arrived so I picked up my rugby ball and walked over to see what I could have possibly done wrong this time.
5:11pm: The police officer told me to stand to the side and then lay down on the ground. I told the officer I didn’t know what I was doing was illegal.
5:12pm: I’m in hand cuffs.
5:15pm: The police officer put me in the cop car; at this point I assumed they were just going to take me home.
5:18pm: He asked for my information and drives off.
5:20pm: I saw a M4 Carbine or a M16 rifle right in front of my eyes! It was pretty cool and pretty big; almost as long as the width of the cop car. As we were driving I was hoping he was going
to drive around and just take me home but I wasn’t going to get off that easy. As we were driving to the police station he pointed over to where all of the traffic was (at least a half mile long) and told me that I am the cause of all of that. Because of my actions a train stopped in the middle of the only street that crosses over to the next town since the other street was closed. Not even knowing it I caused a half hour traffic delay.
5:25pm: We landed at the Bartlett Police station and the officers were wondering what to do with me. They tried to contact the Canadian Train Officer to see what he wants to do with me since he
was the one pressing charges. After a little time they couldn’t get a hold of him and were debating on throwing me in the cell of not. I would have to wait two hours until the Canadian Train Officer would arrive.
5:28pm: Cops were playing with my rugby ball.
5:33pm: We walked into the police station.
5:40pm: The officer was on the phone with the Canadian Train Officer.
5:47pm: The officer lets me walk with a $120 I-bond.
5:49pm: The police officer wrote me a ticket for trespassing and gives me a court date for Sept
9th.
5:52pm: I started walking home fromBartlett Police Station; which is a three mile walk.
6:24pm: Half way home.
6:57pm: Home.
9:30pm: Started writing this story.
10:00pm: Finished writing this story.
What a day huh? This all happened today, August 10, 2011. What did I really do wrong? I didn’t feel like I did much wrong but this is all I did. Well, I was walking on top of freight trains, I guess I was trespassing, got a freight train stuck in the middle of the street, and caused a half hour traffic delay. The officer kept asking me if I was drunk, high, or fucked up on any drugs because of what I did; I was 100% sober throughout the whole day but the officer thought I was just a little loopy. The funny part is that all of my intension was just to pass the time away.
